Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey Sussex
Compton Down
We were really excited to visit Hampshire Pantry after it opened and a quick study of the map showed us that we could walk directly to the farm by starting at the superb play area at Oliver’s Battery and hiking over Compton Down with lovely views.
Winnal Moors
Just a stone’s throw from the heart of Winchester is this wetland nature reserve, known as the gateway to The River Itchen. The all access pathways take you over reedbeds, past ponds and sections of the river.
Owslebury & Marwell
Forgive the photography, this little chap wouldn’t look the right way! But in this tree, you might be able to spot a red panda. This has to be the only footpath in the country where you have a good chance of spotting red pandas, rhinos and wallabies!
Blackwood Forest
The tall beech trees of Blackwood Forest provide the ideal habitat for spring bluebells. Forest Holidays manage a collection of log cabins here, but you do not need to be on one of their breaks to be able to enjoy some of their excellent facilities and of course, the bluebells.
The Grange at Northington
Tucked away in the countryside just north of Alresford is the splendid mansion, The Grange. Resembling a Greek temple and in a picturesque riverside setting, the building is cared for by English Heritage. Visitors are free to come and explore the exterior of the building and can then complete our circular walk.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
Browse over 200 walks! Use the map to find a walk near you, hit the main menu to find walks by feature, look inside our themed collections or just tap the search bar.
