Pub Walks in Hampshire

Warm fires, refreshing drinks, tasty food, shady beer gardens…who doesn’t love a pub stop on a walk? And better still, if they have something to keep the children entertained while you refuel and recharge.

Here are some of our favourites:

The walk passes directly by Marwell Wildlife, where you stand a good chance of spotting animals from rhino to zebra.

The pub, The Ship Inn, has a large garden with a children’s play area.

The walk is a linear one that crosses the River Test multiple times before arriving at Houghton where there is a large ford for paddling.

The pub, The Boot Inn, has a large garden that tumbles down to the river.

The walk gently makes it way beside a young River Itchen with a little ford for paddling.

The pub, The Bush Inn, has a pretty garden beside the river.

The walk hugs the coastline from the pretty harbour town of Emsworth.

The pubs, The Ship Inn and The Royal Oak, both sit on the harbour where children can play on the shore.

The walk climbs the historic zig-zag path where you will be rewarded with great views.

The pub, The Selborne Arms, has a garden with a children’s play area at the bottom of the hill.

The walk brings you through Chilbolton Cow Common where the River Test gentle meanders through the meadows.

The pub, The Mayfly, has seating all along the riverside where you can watch heron and ducks fish for baby trout.

The walk follows the tow path of the Basingstoke Canal to St John’s Castle.

The pub, The Waterwitch, is beside the start/finish with a large and pretty garden running down to the water’s egde.

This is a double play area walk with a short and easy route around the village via a duck pond, churchyard and farmland.

The pub is The White Hart which also has a brilliant play area in its rear garden. Plenty of outdoor covered seating too for parents to watch the kids!

This walk adds to our growing collection of Basingstoke Canal walks. Enjoy a route along the canal, returning over farmland.

The pub is the dog and family-friendly Exchequer, which is perfectly placed for your return. It has a warm fire in winter and outdoor tables in summer.

Begin the walk beside the pub and head off along the Itchen Navigation to a popular wild swimming spot in a disused lock.

The pub is The Bridge and is set beside the river and has indoor and outdoor dining and is dog and family friendly.
