Langley Vale Centenary Woodland
To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, The Woodland Trust planted four new woodlands. Langley Vale Wood has seen the successful re-generation of arable land to a wildlife haven. You will also find memorial sculptures and a wooden play area.
Chilworth Gunpowder Mills
Hidden among the trees beside the River Tillingbourne are the remnants of our industrial heritage. As well as uncovering the ruins from the gunpowder mills, children can also find a paddling area in one of the old waterways.
Winnal Moors
Just a stone’s throw from the heart of Winchester is this wetland nature reserve, known as the gateway to The River Itchen. The all access pathways take you over reedbeds, past ponds and sections of the river.
Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park
Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park is a brand new 40-acre open space near Fareham provided as a lasting commemoration to Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.
Zebon Copse
This unique little walk packs so much into a small space. There is a copse with bluebells and wildflowers, a boardwalk over a mire, a toddlers play area, an amazing trim trail for older children and a bridge that takes you out onto the Basingstoke Canal.
Lepe Country Park
The Lepe Loop will take you along the beach, returning via woodland and fields. It starts and finishes at Lepe Country Park where there is plenty for families to do. You will want to set aside a day for this one!
Wildhams Wood
Wildham Wood is situated just east of the beautiful village of Stoughton in spectacular West Sussex countryside. Although the area is popular with cyclists and walkers, the woods have a wonderfully isolated atmosphere. In May the forest floor is thick with wild garlic and bluebells creating one of nature’s most breath-taking scenes.
Rowhill Nature Reserve
The fifty-five acre Rowhill Nature Reserve is mainly made up of secondary ancient woodland. The well-signed Nature Trail follows the highlights of the reserve that include bluebell glades, boardwalks, ponds and a large meadow.
Chiddingfold
Chiddingfold is a gorgeous Surrey Hills village with fine homes and a timber framed pub set around a large green. Our walk starts from the recreation ground with small play area and heads across farmland and bluebell woodland with river a river running through.
